PureGamers first launched 11th Febuary 2009 with a initial aim for it's owner Sean McManus to learn PHP but also to create a game review website.
The first design of PureGamers was very basic and had several security flaws. In 17th October 2009 PureGamers was SQL injected and 3.111.252 mysql rows were created. On 19th October 2009 the same hackers took control of puregamers and released the sourcecode to the public

I then decided to recreate PureGamers from scratch and rewrite everything, me and the co-owner FoX decided to re-think of a purpose for PureGamers and decided for it to be a place for the public to submit reviews, new releases, news and anything gaming related. We also decided to create a rewards program for submitting articles based on their ratings, which would encourage more submittions and better quality articles.
PureGamers was then designed as it is today.
